Joining Procedures

There are three ways in which swimmers can join Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club. Either through our “Learn to Swim” program; as an already competent swimmer or by joining our Water Polo squad.

 Learn To Swim

To join our Learn to Swim contact our Learn to Swim Co-ordinator, Sharon Davies on 01934 750208 who will be able to provide you with details of the Learn to Swim sessions and availability of places.  We offer places to children from age 5 years upwards, children from 4 ˝ can have their names added to a waiting list so that when they reach the age of 5 they can be automatically be offered a place.  Details of the Learn to Swim training sessions can be found at (click on this link) Learn to Swim.

Once the swimmer has progressed through the Learn to Swim they will be invited to become full members of Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club where they will have the option to become full Competitive Swimmers or join the Social Swimming (Non-Competitive) elements of the Club.

Competitive and Non-Competitive Swimming

To join Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club as either a Competitive or Non-Competitive Swimmer then contact Paula Crossman-Jones on 01934 863043 or e-mail membership@weston-super-mare-swimming-club.co.uk  who will be able to provide you with details of what the Club can offer you.  Initially you will be offered two free sessions with the Club to see if you wish to take up swimming and just as important for us decide what we can offer you.  Full details of Competitive Swimming and Non Competitive Swimming can be found at the following links (click on the links) Competitive Swimming or Non Competitive Swimming.

Water Polo

To join Weston-super-Mare as a Water Polo Player you must by the nature of the sport be able to swim.  If you are not a strong swimmer you will still be able to join the Water Polo Section but will be expected to train with the Swimming Club Competitive element to bring up your level of swimming and stamina.  For more details of Water Polo contact Mike Coles on 01934 511456 or 07789 767269.  For more details of (click on this link) Water Polo.

On formally joining the Club as a Competitive Swimmer you will be given a Club Handbook that details what you can expect from the Club and what the Club expects from you as a Swimmer.  The Handbook also includes sections where you can record your weekly swimming achievements and also record all of the Swimming Galas you enter and record your swimming times achieved in each race event and distance.  A typical example of the Club Handbook can be found by clicking the following link, Handbook Link.
